Students must complete a placement test in order to register for GED Distance Education Classes. Please go to the New Students Registering page, http://basicskills.waketech.edu/registration.php to get information about how to register for placement testing.
Welcome to the GED Online and the Pre-GED Online website! We hope you find this site to be a place that answers many of your questions concerning our online programs. The links on the left side of this page will provide you with additional information on these programs.
These online programs are provided through:
- The Adult Education Center Annex, on Capital Blvd
- The Individualized Learning Center at Wake Tech’s Main Campus on Fayetteville Rd
- These are separate programs, so please look over the information and consider which location would be more convenient for you when scheduling times to come to one of our offices.
One question we are often asked is, “Can I do everything online?” Orientation and Testing sessions, post testing, and the GED exams, including initial paperwork for these exams, are only offered "on-the-ground." However, all the work that would normally require you to attend an "on-the-ground" class will be done online.
There is no cost for GED online; however there is a one-time cost, $25.00, for taking the GED tests, payable when you take the first test.
